Convert integer to float and vice-versa - Java Program

Below are two Java programs:
Convert integer → float
Convert float → integer

Program 1: Convert Integer to Float

public class IntToFloat {

    public static void main(String[] args) {

         int num = 25;

         // Converting int to float

        float f = (float) num;

 

        System.out.println("Integer value: " + num);

        System.out.println("Converted float value: " + f);

    }

}

Output

 
OUTPUT 1:
Integer value: 25
Converted float value: 25.0

Explanation

Step 1: Assign an integer

int num = 25;

Step 2: Convert integer to float

float f = (float) num;

  • Java automatically allows widening conversion
  • int → float is safe
  • The decimal “.0” is added automatically

Step 3: Print both values

Shows original and converted values.

Program 2: Convert Float to Integer

public class FloatToInt {

    public static void main(String[] args) {

         float f = 12.75f;

         // Converting float to int

        int num = (int) f;

 

        System.out.println("Float value: " + f);

        System.out.println("Converted integer value: " + num);

    }

}

OUTPUT 1:
Float value: 12.75
Converted integer value: 12

Explanation

Step 1: Assign a float

float f = 12.75f;

Step 2: Convert float to int

int num = (int) f;

  • This is narrowing conversion
  • Fractional part is truncated, not rounded
  • So 12.75 → 12

Step 3: Print both values
